Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the structure and function of the human body, emphasizing the intricate design and interdependence of its systems. Students will explore the levels of biological organization—from cells and tissues to organs and integrated body systems—gaining a foundational understanding of how the body maintains balance, health, and life. This course presents the human body as an intelligently ordered system, equipping students with essential knowledge for advanced study in nutrition, health, and holistic care.
Through a structured and accessible approach, learners will examine each of the major body systems, their roles, and how they work together to support optimal function. Foundational principles of microbiology and disease processes are introduced to help students understand how imbalances occur and how informed lifestyle and nutritional choices can support healing and prevention.
Students will learn:
- Identify the levels of organization within the human body, from cells to systems
- Understand the structure and function of the eleven major body systems
- Explain how body systems interact to maintain homeostasis
- Recognize basic microbiological principles related to health and disease
- Build a scientific foundation for understanding pathology and therapeutic interventions
This course lays the groundwork for all advanced health and nutrition studies, helping students develop a deep respect for the complexity of the human body and a practical understanding of how structure and function relate to lifelong wellness.
