Course Description
Mental health is foundational to overall well-being and deeply interconnected with physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. This course explores stress as one of the leading contributors to lifestyle-related disease and diminished quality of life in today’s fast-paced world. Students will gain a clear understanding of how stress and emotional imbalance affect the body’s systems, influence behavior, and impact long-term health, while examining these challenges through a compassionate, faith-informed, and holistic lens.
Through practical instruction and evidence-based principles, this course equips students with tools to identify stressors, understand the body’s physiological stress responses, and support mental and emotional resilience. Emphasis is placed on natural, lifestyle-based approaches that encourage balance, self-awareness, and healing.
Students will learn:
- Identify common sources of stress and emotional strain in modern life
- Understand the physiological effects of stress on the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems
- Recognize the mental, emotional, and social impacts of chronic stress and depression
- Apply natural and lifestyle-based strategies to support mental and emotional well-being
- Promote balance through nutrition, rest, movement, faith, and healthy coping practices
By the end of this course, students will be prepared to support mental health in themselves and others using practical, compassionate, and holistic strategies—nurturing resilience, balance, and hope in mind, body and spirit.
