Course Description
This course focuses on God’s design for health by focusing on balance, stewardship of the body, and lifestyle practices that support long-term wellness. Rooted in the principle of homeostasis, this course teaches students how the body is designed to heal and thrive when supported by proper nutrition and healthy living. Emphasis is placed on prevention rather than treatment, empowering students to make informed choices that reduce disease risk and promote vitality across the lifespan.
Central to this course is the NEWSTART framework—a time-tested, faith-centered approach to health that integrates both science and Scripture. Students will examine how each principle works individually and synergistically to support optimal body function, resilience, and spiritual well-being.
Students will learn:
- Understand the concept of homeostasis and its role in disease prevention
- Apply the NEWSTART principles: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust in God
- Evaluate the therapeutic benefits of lifestyle choices on body systems
- Identify common lifestyle-related diseases and preventive strategies
- Develop practical, faith-aligned wellness plans for individuals and families
At the end of this course, students will be equipped with a holistic, preventive approach to nutrition that honors the body’s God-given design, supports overall wellness, and lays the groundwork for a lifetime of healthy, balanced living.
